How do Tridosha connect living beings to the Five Elements?

How do the five elements form the physical body of living beings?

Scientifically, the universe is composed of visible matter and invisible energy. It’s OK, but what is the definition of matter and energy?

What constitutes matter and energy? This universe has many stars, like the sun, and planets, like Earth. On Earth itself, there are many living beings like animals, birds, trees, etc. and non-living objects like soils, metals, oils, etc. What might be their origin? And where is it located?

Surely, none of these can be created on their own. There must be their origin somewhere. What may that be?

In this blog, we will go deep into this issue. Because even most of the well-educated people know very little about their exact origin.

It means these people are aware of the existence of visible or invisible living beings on earth, but they don’t know how these living beings take the specific form and sustain for a long time.

But it is necessary to know about this very well, if we want to stay in good tune with our living place, i.e., the earth.

In this direction, we will take five basic elements into consideration. In our previous blog, the importance of the five elements was already revealed in the universal process of formation, growth & destruction.

As per Ayurveda, the basic structure of the material world is based on the five elements: ether (space), air (wind), fire, water and earth.

As fundamental elements, the five elements play a vital role as foundation stones in the formation of living beings as well as non-living objects that exist on earth & in the universe.

It means the physical body of living beings is made of five elements. But how do these five elements take a specific shape of living beings? Living beings are not stone-like non-living objects that don’t move a little bit, don’t do anything on their own, don’t produce their own children.

The five elements, which are the origin of an inactive, expression-less non-living object on earth, can they also be the origin of an active, sensible body of living beings?

Really, this issue can be a matter of research on how these five elements keep the bodies of living beings physically active and psychologically sensitive all the time.

To know these unknown things, SureGod is going to analyse the working system of the five elements that exist in the physical body of living beings.

Tridosha connects movable living beings with the Five Elements through the six tastes
Physical body of movable living beings are shaped by Tridosha that is formed by six different tastes. All these tastes are made of the five basic elements

How does the balance of the five elements get maintained in living beings?

In our observation, it is found that no elements out of the five work alone in the living body. All the elements work in pairs.

As per this, there are three different pairs made of any two elements.

Pair of Space & Air. It is called a Vata Dosha. It carries the qualities like dry, light, cold, rough, spacious, flowing Subtle and Clear

Pair of Earth & water. It is called a Kapha Dosha. It is heavy, cool, slow, oily, and smooth, dense, soft, stable, gross, and cloudy (sticky) by quality.

Pair of Fire & water. It is called a Pitta Dosha. It has unique qualities such as hot, sharp, light, liquid, oily and trans-formative.

All these three pairs are collectively known as Tridosha in Ayurveda. It determines the constitution, health, and personality of the living body. It is an essential factor for every living body to perform any kind of task at any time in any condition.

Out of these Tridosha, Vata and Pitta are considered as forms of energy in the body of living beings. And kaph can be seen in the form of matter in the body of living beings, which builds the constitution of the living body. Energy existed in the form of Vata, which boosts movement in the living body. Movement is one of the major functions of many functions of air elements. Energy existed in the form of Pitta, which boosts transformation in the living body.

Both movement and transformation are the most inevitable activities in the physical body of all kinds of living beings to sustain life on earth for a long time.

Kapha is such a material which is essential for making the body structure with its binding attribute, maintaining the lubrication in the living body and giving the living body stability. Being visible, it also helps to get a specific identity for its formed structure.

Hence, Vata, Kapha and Pitta are considered the main pillars of every living body.

These tridosha jointly create different climates, different tastes of food, different living beings, different species, even in the same living being.

Six tastes of foods with the combination of the five elements

These five elements give birth naturally to six tastes in the forms of fruits, flowers, leaves, roots of tree & plants, as well as acidic and alkaline foods, etc.

The sweet taste is made of earth and water elements. The same element forms the Kapha dosha. It means consumption of sweet taste boosts the Kapha dosha in the body. Increasing Kapha dosh in the body means having a greater proportion of earth and water elements than the other three elements in the body of living beings.

The Sour taste is made of water and fire elements. The same elements form Pitta dosha. It means consumption of Sour taste boosts pitta dosha in the body⁰00. Increasing pitta dosh in the body means having more fire and water elements than the other three elements in the body of living beings.

Bitter taste is made of space and air elements. The same elements form Vata Dosh.

Salty taste is made of water and air elements. Spicy taste is made of Fire and air elements. Astringent taste is made of earth and air elements.

Consumption of sweet, sour and salty tastes increases water elements in the body. Therefore, the proportion of water can be seen more in the bodies of living beings.

All kinds of natural foods like leaves, fruits, flowers, seeds and roots have one taste out of these six tastes. By consuming such food materials, the five elements go into the body of living beings in the form of these six tastes.  It may be in different proportions in the bodies of different living beings.

With the help of these six different tastes, balance in Tridosha is maintained naturally in the physical body of a living being.

In such a way, the five elements which form & maintain the universe keep on working from birth till death of the body of all kinds of moving as well as non-moving living beings through Vata, Pitta and Kapha.

Living beings can maintain optimum health by maintaining a good balance of these Tridosha. It is called ‘Prakriti‘.

Due to the changes in environment, diet, lifestyle, relationships, growing age, status of mind and many other hidden factors, the proportion of each of these three doshas keeps on fluctuating constantly.

Such fluctuations give rise to “Vikruti”, which may be in different forms like chronic physical ailments, any psychological or emotional issues, etc.

Such fluctuations in Tridosha can be a root reason for different kinds of inconvenience while living life peacefully.
