It is common sense that spirituality is nothing other than the science of the spirit's activities. But on going deep into it, nothing special is found about spirit in spirituality; spirit is nowhere to be found in spirituality. Entire spirituality is full of mind & soul.
What is this mess all about? If there is no spirit, then how can it be spirituality? Where is wrong?
Spirituality is just like a subject from which lessons on a peaceful life are learnt. But if it is not as per its title, then will it be genuine or trustworthy?
Was it just a mistake happening unconsciously of omitting spirit from spirituality, or was it committed intentionally, or was spirituality subject out of reach of the inventor of spirituality?
But how can it be such a big mistake where the lead role is not given to the lead hero in the entire script?
Also, why has Spirit been intentionally ignored in the entire spirituality? What were its benefits? And who gained its benefits?
And if spirituality was a topic beyond understanding, then what was the need of giving incomplete knowledge about it to others?
After observing no presence of spirit in spirituality itself, many different kinds of questions are hovering round and round. By seeing this mess-up, it now looks imperative to dig out its reality on a priority basis.

Role of Soul in Spirituality
Spirituality helps human beings to establish the relationship between their soul and the invisible energy of the universe. It is nothing but the belief of being universal. Its benefits can be taken only by those who understand the exact role of the mind and the soul, as well as the relationship between them in human life.
Spirituality is a specific medium of communication between the human soul and the eternal energy of the universe.
The mind and the soul have a direct relation to spirituality, which is beyond perception for common people due to their invisibility.
Attributes of the soul :
Complete Knowledge: The soul is a storage house where the mind involuntarily keeps on storing tried and tasted information of life, which may be related to heartbreaking insult, repentance, physical pain, possession of property or loving person, critical accidents, incompleteness, sympathy, helplessness, suspense, thrill, fear, etc.On the other hand, the mind keeps on retrieving this information stored in the soul as per the requirement to make any critical decisions matching with situations. Based on mind, take an emotional or logical decision, which hardly goes wrong. After that, based on its decision, the mind either works itself or gets tasks done by respective body parts.
Purity: it means to have purity of mind. Despite being attributes of a soul, purity is connected with the mind. Because the mind is the birthplace of all kinds of thoughts, emotions and logic. Therefore, if the birthplace is pure, then the child that comes out of it is also pure.
If decisions are pure, then actions taken as per the decision are also pure. If actions are made with pure intention, then the ultimate fruits of every deed are also pure.
Those who have pure deeds based on pure thoughts are called a sage or a great soul with honour.
At last, such souls having pure thoughts and pure deeds may get easy salvation.
Affection: Everybody wishes to have selfless love, whether they are a child or an aged person, a lady or a gentleman. A few words of affection are enough to melt even an emotionless heart. Only love can initiate non-violence. Love promotes feelings of closeness.
We can get our work done from others only through lovely behaviour. Secrets can also be revealed with love. Only love can reduce the stressful gap between divided groups. Love can only be the best remedy to uproot ego, hate & anger.
It means love is the first preference of the soul to maintain peace in life.
Peace: Soul is a child of the space element. This element contains nothing. It is empty. As per scientific rule, nothing happens in space. It means there is silence everywhere. At last, silence maintains peace.
Peace represents the space element. Such a peace leads us towards spirituality, where spiritual knowledge is obtained, which grants us peace in life.
Due to having a relationship with the space element, peace is a silent attribute of the soul. Hence, the soul doesn’t stay with fear, anxiety, or stress, which spoils the peace in life. During life, we can think over some critical issues in-depth only in a peaceful environment.
The soul can attain such required peace in life with the help of meditation.
Only those souls get easy salvation who rest in peace before death. It means staying in peace is a prime requirement of the salvation of the soul. The soul can get salvation only by having peace before death.
Fulfilment of wishes: Staying in peace is a silent attribute of the Soul. The soul doesn’t remain in peace till its all its wishes are fulfilled before the death of its human body.
Life-changing incidents like heartbreaking insult, repentance, physical pain, possession of property or a loving person, critical accidents, incompleteness, sympathy, helplessness, suspense, thrill, fear, etc., are involuntarily stored by the mind in the soul.
To keep the soul free from such emotional attachments, it is most important to control involuntary mental activities like wishing, thinking, worrying, and fearing, which is only possible through meditation.
If the soul is completely free from the trap of all kinds of such emotional attachments, then it can attain the level of fulfilment. Such souls become liable to attain salvation easily.
Importance of the spirit in the physical body
The existence of the spirit in the physical body is important for the soul to keep the body always active, so that the mind can get different kinds of work done from the physical body at any time to fulfil the incomplete wishes of the soul.
Without spirit, the physical body of the living being becomes dead, which is useless for the soul of that body. The mind can’t get any work done from such a dead body. Hence, the wishes of such souls remain unfulfilled. Therefore, such souls can’t get salvation after death.
Spirit has importance only during life, but the soul plays its role during life as well as after death. Spirit is one of the forms of energy that doesn't let the physical body die. Unlike the mind, it performs nothing. Unlike the soul, it carries no information to the next birth.
In such a way, like soul & mind, there is no little role of spirit in spirituality. Therefore, spirituality is all about soul & mind, but nothing about spirit.
Huge Difference between the Spirit and Soul
There is a huge difference between the nature and functions of Spirit and Soul.
Spirit works from birth until the death of living beings. But the soul keeps on working before death as well as after death.
Every living being has a spirit. Without the existence of a spirit in them, they can’t be living beings. But every living being doesn’t have a soul, for eg, worms, insects, etc. Only those living beings have souls who have a good sense of I, me, my, myself till the end of life, for eg, human beings, cows, dogs, cats, dolphins, hens, parrots, etc. Such living beings are very careful about their own small babies. Also, they identify their owner or master very well.
Spirit is an immaterial aspect of living beings. It is one kind of invisible energy that keeps the entire body moving from birth till death. It means the role of the spirit is different from the role of the soul, which can’t be a part of spirituality.
In such a way, the spirit plays a vital role in keeping the body workable to perform the task for fulfilling unfulfilled wishes of the soul.
In short, the soul entirely depends upon the spirit for the movement of the body to fulfil its wishes during life. After the physical body is abandoned by the spirit, the living being becomes dead & its body becomes useless for the soul. Without spirit in the body, none of the wishes of the soul can be fulfilled.
The unfulfilled wishes stored in a soul keep that soul moving continuously to be a ghost or to get a rebirth or to get salvation, depending upon the number of unfulfilled wishes and their intensity of movement.
There is no single word in the English language that explains Spirit exactly
In the English language, there are two words, e.g. soul & spirit, only for describing the soul. But there is no exact word that defines the soul in the English language.
In this language, on one hand, the soul is defined as a spirit and on the other hand, it is also defined as the soul itself. It means a single soul is defined twice in this language.
Against this, there is not a single word in this language that defines Spirit properly. Spirit is an inseparable part of the physical body to keep it always active. Also, it is a form of energy produced by every cell of every organ to continue its own cellular activities.
It indicates the incomplete subject knowledge of those who brought the word “Spirituality” into the English language. They may not have understood the distinct entities of both soul and spirit. They have wrongly described the importance and the roles of the soul in the name of the spirit. While doing so, they ignored specific functions & roles of the Spirit completely. Why did Spirit get ignored in the entire spirituality in such a way? This means that at that time, they were completely unaware of the work roles of the spirit in the physical bodies of living beings.
Incomplete knowledge about spirituality in the English language creates a big confusion. As a result, spirituality-like words, which are derived from the English word spirit, came into existence in the English language. As per Indian scriptures, the soul is far different from the spirit around which spirituality revolves in the English language.
Despite the word “Spirituality” being derived from the English word “Spirit”, unlike the soul, the spirit doesn’t play a leading role in spirituality.
Although spirituality is closer to the soul than the spirit itself, there is no matching word in the English language derived from the word soul that describes the role of the soul in spirituality.
